Why Can't I Use the PC Hard Drive for ZOSI Boxes?
Hello, y'all!
Recently, we have received an increase in the number of feedback on hard drive issues, and a large percentage of them are caused by using improper hard drives.
In previous articles, I have covered how to select a hard drive for your Zosi system:
Today, let's focus on why regular PC hard drives are not suitable for Zosi surveillance recorders!
1. Heavy Workloads
PC hard drives are designed to serve as the primary storage drive for your desktop computer, to provide reliable performance for your daily office and network applications, and to select the ideal capacity for your computer, not to help a VCR store files.
As a result, using PC hard drives in a VCR can lead to a variety of problems, such as data loss.
By contrast, while surveillance hard drives are not typical hard drives, they are designed from the ground up to support heavy surveillance workloads.
2. Transfer Mode
Surveillance hard drives also use an uninterrupted transfer mode, which is something that regular PC hard drives using traditional hard drive transfer modes cannot do.
3. Power Management (Power Start)
The average hard drive's boot current is between 2.8A and 3.2A, while in contrast, the Surveillance hard drive's boot current is up to 2.0A.
4. Operating power consumption and heat dissipation differences
Surveillance Hard Drive consumes only 55% of the power of an ordinary PC disk.
Surveillance Hard Drive reduces the thermal requirements of the security system, and this optimization makes the system more adaptable to the environment, enabling it to ensure that it is in a long online state and cope with possible high temperatures.
Seeing this, you should get the idea that yes, choosing the right hard drive will add value to your system.
