Zosi ZR08GS DVR's new firmware V1.7.1 is available on the download center now. In this version, the DVR compatibility was fixed, and the problem of not displaying images when connecting ZG2615A cameras (the original 5MP ZR08KS DVR companion camera) was solved.

However, we note that after upgrading the DVR using this upgrade file, the DVR no longer has coaxial audio capability, so if you connect a camera with coaxial audio, there will be no sound, so please decide whether to do this upgrade at your discretion with the assistance of our technical support.

The following are the step-by-step instructions for upgrading the DVR specific operations:

To perform this process, you will want to use a USB 2.0 drive ideally 16 GB or less in size, formatted in FAT32.

After you have downloaded the update file from the link above, please note that this file should be placed in the root directory of the USB (not in any folders) and the file name must remain the same for the DVR to recognize it.
Some customers have reported issues when downloading this file using the "Microsoft Edge" browser. We recommend using a different browser for this process.

If you're not seeing an "updating..." message on the screen for at least three minutes, the DVR isn't detecting the update file. There are a few reasons this could be: 

1) If the DVR has alternative places to look for the update, it won't run. The ethernet cable needs to be disconnected, as well as any other USB devices including the mouse. The power should be disconnected for at least 10 seconds before connecting the USB drive and reconnecting the power.

2) If the USB is 3.0, the DVR will not be able to read it. USB 3.0 was developed after the DVR motherboards. Likewise, the DVR is not in FAT32 format, it won't be read. The easy way to tell if a USB drive is 3.0 is the color of the board chip inside the USB connection. 2.0 always uses a black board, while 3.0 generally has a colored board, often red or blue. 

3) The file name must remain exactly as listed in the article for the DVR to recognize it as an update. If the file was downloaded twice, a PC will add (1) to the end of the name, which will create an issue. If the file was downloaded using the Microsoft Edge browser, this will cause the file to be converted to a text file, which can't be read by the DVR. 

4) The DVR cannot navigate through folders in the USB to find the update. The file must be placed in the USB root directory.
