Guidance on Set up the Output Settings for DVR / NVR
Hello, y'all!
Today we'll learn a little bit about resolution and learn how to configure the output settings of your Zosi DVR / NVR to get the best display on your TV / monitor.
1. What is "Resolution"?
In layman's terms, "Resolution" is the number of "dots" that make up an image. The higher the resolution, the better the image will be.
However, please note that the resolution supported by your monitor/TV may be limited, so please do not choose a too high resolution, otherwise the image will not be displayed.
2. Zosi DVR / NVR has below formats available, in four different aspect ratios:
Standard (4:3) - 1024x768
Standard (5:4) - 1280x1024
Widescreen (16:10) - 1280x800,1440x900
Widescreen (16:9) - 1280x720 (720p) , 1920x1080 (1080p) or 3840x2160 (4K)
3. Our Recommendations:
For Standard Monitors via VGA: Please select one of the standard (4:3) formats for DVR / NVR’s output.
For Widescreen Monitors via VGA: Please select one of the standard (16:9) formats for DVR / NVR’s output.
For PC monitors via HDMI: Choose a format appropriate for your monitor.
For Widescreen Plasma/LCD HD TVs via HDMI: The resolution should be set to the maximum your television can process not display. You may check your television’s documentation to find this value. Typically, a proper resolution will be 1080p, as even screens that support less resolution can still display the image, just with less detail. If your television cannot display 1080p, then use 720p instead.
4. Notes:
1) If your widescreen monitor cannot display these resolutions, you might need to enable letter-boxing on your monitor and use a 4:3 format.

2) Using a standard-screen format on widescreen monitors will "shrink" the image horizontally while using a widescreen format on standard monitors will “stretch” the image vertically.
3) To get the audio from the DVR / NVR to your speaker, the TV/monitor should be connected via HDMI cable and the firmware version of the DVR / NVR should be higher than V1.6.1.
