What if you want to select Multi 1-4, but it keeps switching to 9 screens?
Regarding the screen switching without you prompting it to do so, this indicates you have the Scan function enabled. This function causes the DVR to cycle through preset views on a time delay.
To stop this, right-click and select "Stop Scan".
If you're being prompted to log in without resetting the device, the system may be set to log off after a certain amount of time. Right-click and select Main Menu > Setup > Basic. You'll see an option at the bottom for "Logout after [minutes]". Set this to "never" and you'll only need to log in after a reboot of the system.
Regarding the "several options to click or acknowledge", could you please clarify what you're seeing? Knowing what comes up should help me determine why it comes up.
